Witherspoon's biggest bet is Hello Sunshine, the female-focused media company she co-founded in 2016 and sold a majority stake in during 2021 at roughly a $900 million valuation — one of the most successful celebrity-founder exits. Witherspoon invests behind one conviction: that female-led companies serving female audiences are systematically undervalued, and she has proven it mostly as a founder-operator rather than a prolific angel. Hello Sunshine, Draper James, Reese's Book Club and The Home Edit are all vehicles for that thesis, while her handful of outside checks sit in the same lane of women's health and consumer brands. She typically takes equity plus a board seat and stays involved, using her ability to attract talent and audiences as leverage in negotiations.
